Running is a Passion I would Like to Share With You

by on

My name is Kris and I’m a runner.  I’m not as fast as I used to be, but I’m surely more passionate!  I rediscovered running after my wife an I started a family later in life.  I realized I needed a way to stay healthy and active so I could enjoy my children and their activities.  I was overweight, but not unhealthy.  I didn’t want my obeeseity to ruin this, so I decided to start running.  I used to run cross country throughout high school, so running was not foreign to me; however, that was over twenty years ago!

I really started running the wrong way.  I didn’t have a plan, and just jumped in.  I am really fortunate I didn’t hurt myself.  If I had to do it again, I would start with a walk to run training plan.  I want to share you with you my running experiences, how I went from standing to a distance runner, and tips and tricks I have learned along the way.

When I talk about running with my friends I hear all sort of excuses such as:

  • it is too hard
  • it will hurt my knees
  • I don’t have time
  • it is boring
  • I don’t like running outside
  • I don’t like running on a treadmill

If it is too hard, then slow down!  If you don’t have time, then make some.  If you don’t like running on a treadmill, then run outside, and you can run in the cold!

Of course you have to really want to run to enjoy it, and my aim with this blog is to help get over some of the beginning hurdles so you quickly find running enjoyable and something that becomes a part of your lifestyle.
